Lisa Kubo Shatters The 7 Second Barrier In Pro FWD On Mickey ThompsonÂ® Drag Tires!
Becoming the First Front Wheel Drive Racer in the Sevens While M/T Racer Nelson Hoyos Becomes Second in the Sevens
Stow, OH - In a record breaking weekend, Saturn Motorsports Pro FWD racer Lisa Kubo shattered the seven second barrier in first round qualifying at the NHRA Sport Compact Nationals in West Palm Beach Florida on Saturday April 17th with a record 7.963 pass in her Cooper Tire / Mickey Thompson sponsored Saturn ION. Kubo, who runs Mickey Thompson's 29.5/9.0-15 ET Drag tire on the front wheel drive car, also won the event, making her two for two this season after winning the Fontana event last month where she set the previous E.T. Record. In the second round of qualifying, 2003 NHRA Pro FWD champ, Nelson Hoyos clocked the second ever run in the sevens with a 7.997 elapsed time. Nelson, who drives for GM, runs the Mickey Thompson 29.5x10.5-15w ET Drag tire on his FWD Chevy Cavalier. Last year 4 out of 5 NHRA Sport Compact National Champions won on Mickey Thompson tires.
