Duck Tape Racing's Michael Beard Earns Third Position In Division One During The Champion System Sportsman National Event On Mickey Thompson Tires

Stow, OH - IHRA Sportsman racers gathered at Richmond Dragway, May 30-31, 2009, for an IHRA Division One Summit Pro-Am Tour double-header. Saturday, the racers competed in the IHRA Summit Pro-Am Tour event. Sunday, Duck Tape Racing's Michael Beard participated in a special Champion System Sportsman National event. Racing on Mickey Thompson #3066R ET Drag Radials, he advanced to the semi-final round that earned him the points necessary to place him in third position in Division One.

Richmond Dragway was a new venue on the IHRA Summit Pro-Am Tour, said Michael Beard. The rollout was much tighter than what I was used to, so I had to do a lot of tuning with air pressure in both the front and rear tires to get my reaction times where I wanted them. One of the things I love about my Mickey Thompson tires is that I was able to make radical changes in air pressure without worrying about traction. I made it to the semifinals in Sunday's Champion System Sportsman National event, and my 60-foot times and reaction times were incredibly consistent.
