Winning the $10,000 Top Prize for the first NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Rider to Run a 6 Second Pass

Stow, OH - In an outstanding performance, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Andrew Hines, of the Screamin’ Eagle® / Vance & Hines Pro Stock Motorcycle Team, became the first rider to cross the 6 second barrier in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class with a 6.991 pass at 196.16 mph. The historic event happened during qualifying at the Gatornationals in Gainesville Florida on Friday March 18, 2005. The Pro Stock Motorcycle six-second barrier was one of the few remaining barriers to be broken in NHRA drag racing. It's a dream that teams have been in hot pursuit of for some time now. Working with the NHRA, Mickey Thompson started the Six Second Club, posting the $10,000 award for the first rider to break the barrier. A total of eight riders will enter the club with awards for each spot in the club including cash, apparel, trophies, and recognition on TV and in National Dragster Magazine.
