Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels Returns As AMA Dragbike Pro Mod Class Sponsor For 2009

Stow, OH - Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels is proud to announce that they have completed negotiations with AMA Dragbike and will return as the AMA Dragbike Pro Mod Class Sponsor in 2009.

“I guess you could say that the Pro-Mod division is kind of like Pro Stock on steroids,” said Carl Robinson, Motorsports Manager, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels. “These motorcycles have enough muscle to turn mid sixes in the quarter at speeds of more than 200 miles an hour. It is not unusual for these bikes to carry the front tire in the air most of the way to the finish line.”

“With all of this power in the rear, it takes a tire with bite to get that bike on the ground,” continued Robinson. “Mickey Thompson tires deliver that and more as they have for over 26 years in drag racing.”

In addition to their sponsorship of the Pro Mod category, Mickey Thompson Motorsports will also be paying contingencies in all classes.

“In today’s economy we wanted to enhance the opportunity for rewards, so Mickey Thompson will be awarding over $15,000 to racers in 2009,” continued Robinson. “We are excited to participate in the AMA Dragbike Series as a sponsor again this year, and wanted to expand our role.”
