Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels Announces Ten Grand Slam Winner-Take-All Cash Bonus Program For The IHRA Pro Modified Racing Class

Stow, OH - Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels returns to IHRA racing as the 2009 Pro Modified Racing Class Sponsor with a new cash bonus program called the “Mickey Thompson Ten Grand Slam” offering a $10,000 cash bonus to the winning Pro Modified Class racer.
“Pro Modified racing had its beginnings in IHRA, and for the past 19 years we’ve offered the quickest and fastest quarter-mile competition in the sport,” said Tommy Dupree, National Sales Manager, IHRA/Norwalk Properties. “We’re proud to work with Mickey Thompson to bring this bonus program to the racers.”
Points will accrue through the first nine events of the IHRA racing season. At the conclusion of the IHRA President’s Cup Nationals in September, 2009, two names will be selected at random from a group of the top eight points earners. These two racers will then have a chance to compete head-to-head for the $10,000 purse.
“Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels has been a big part of the IHRA racing family for years and we will continue to expand our involvement in the ‘big tire’ segment of the sport,” said Carl Robinson, Motorsports Manager, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels. “This is just another way that we reward the racers. We’d love to see the winning racer cross that finish line on Mickey Thompson Tires, and we have the tires to get the job done.”
The final competition will take place during qualifying rounds for the World Finals at Rockingham Dragway the weekend of October 24-25, 2009. If the winner is racing on Mickey Thompson drag tires, Mickey Thompson will add a $2,500 bonus to the cash purse.
