J.R. Granatelli Returns To Professional Racing In The 2009 Mickey Thompson SXS Off-Road Stadium Racing Series

Stow, OH - J.R. Granatelli will return to professional racing in 2009 by participating in the 2009 Mickey Thompson SXS Stadium Racing Series. J.R. will be participating in the series with the support of his son, JoJo Granatelli.

“We could not have better representatives for this series than J.R. Granatelli and his son JoJo,” said Carl Robinson, Motorsports Manager, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels. “The Thompson and Granatelli families share a racing history that goes back to the early 1960’s, and we are very excited to have the Granatelli’s with us this year.”

“There are over 70 years of Granatelli racing heritage in our family if you include my father and grandfather,’ said JoJo Granatelli. “As the next generation of Granatelli racers, I’m looking forward to perfecting my driving skills this year. Since the SXS series calls for co-drivers at all events, I look forward to racing with my father throughout the racing season. Don’t be too surprised if we have a two-car team by the end of the year!”

In 2009 Mickey Thompson has teamed up with SXS as a title sponsor. They will be offering a substantial tire sponsorship and contingency program that will be available to all SXS Stadium Series racers. The first race in the series kicks off on February 21, 2009 at the Perris Auto Speedway, Perris, CA, and is the first of eight scheduled racing competitions.
