Representing Team USA, this year’s AMA 250MX and 250SX West champion Cooper Webb beat three-time winner and Dutch champion Jeffrey Herlings in Round 2 of MX2 competition at Charlotte Motor Speedway this past weekend. While Herlings went on to win the FIM Motocross World Championship MX2 title, he acknowledged the tough competition from the American team.

“These are some of the strongest motocross racers in the world, so, it was outstanding to see Cooper on top of the podium in Round 2,” said Ken Warner, Vice President of Marketing for Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels. “Cooper’s done an excellent job this year, and we’re sure he will continue to make his country proud later this month in Italy with Team USA.”

The MX2 finale will be held this weekend at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif. Webb, who will serve as captain of Team USA alongside his Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha teammate Aaron Martin will represent the U.S. at the Motocross of Nations in Maggiora, Italy, on Sept. 25.
