Catching up with JeepnGypsies

Meet the Queen and King of Living for Adventure, all day, everyday

For five years collectively, Paula and Mark, AKA the “JeepnGypsies”, have traveled the country, both embracing and exemplifying a life of unbridled adventure. From coast to coast, the couple have lived their best lives out of their Jeeps, and have encouraged others to do the same, whether that’s by joining them on extreme off-road excursions or simply by following their hearts to find their own versions of happiness.

We caught up with Paula—who started her life of perpetual wandering more than four years ago—and Mark—who eliminated any and all loneliness from Paula’s never-ending journey when he joined her on the road a little over a year ago—to talk about what’s next and how Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T tires are helping them get from point A to Z as they continue their lives without limits.

MT: So, what was your latest adventure?

JeepnGypsies: We just completed a bucket-list run outside of San Diego. We had the distinct privilege of attacking a rarely run trail, called Devils Canyon. BLM (Bureau of Land Management) only allows off-roading on this trail seven days out of the calendar year, and you must have a permit and proof of liability insurance (for any potential damage done to the trail) in hand just to attempt it… So, only ~100 Jeeps undertake the challenge annually. It definitely lives up to its name; it was not easy.

MT: Did your Baja Boss M/T tires give you an edge to tackle the terrain?

JeepnGypsies: We have had a lot of great tires, but never has a tire performed in every form of extreme terrain like the Baja Boss M/T’s. They wrap around sharp rocks like no tires we have ever used. We have taken them on all sorts of terrain, from sand dunes to ice sheets to snow banks, over obstacle and everywhere in between. We require our tires to perform, and these have never failed us. The sidewall is super thick. Our paths often lead directly over very jagged rocks; not a single one has managed to puncture these tires.

MT: So where is your next stop?

JeepnGypsies: We are going to Death Valley for a few days, before heading to Sand Hollow, Utah. We search out trails on our own. We pick a town that is in between whatever map dot we’re leaving from and where we want to go, and just talk to the residents, who tell us where the best trails are hidden. Those locally sourced runs always end up being the best trails we discover. Sometimes we get to reciprocate, though! We went on a trail run in Utah recently and were joined by a group (many of whom were Utah residents) and most said they didn’t know the trails existed, even though they were right in their backyard.

MT: A lot of people have serious envy over how you two just get out and go on adventures full time.

JeepnGypsies: They shouldn’t! Instead, they should get out and live life to the fullest! Our motto is “dream big and explore more” and our mission is to inspire everyone to do just that. To that end, we are currently pursuing our own lifelong dream of transitioning from wheelers to Ultra4 racers. Rather than soliciting sponsorship, we are preparing to earn it by undertaking 25 challenges in 60-days. For each individual challenge—whether it be number of trails run or bags of litter removed from nature—we are hoping to attach one exclusive “Pledge Partner” who will commit to add a specific dollar amount to our racing budget once their particular challenge is successfully met. In hopes of putting any inspiration we manage to generate on blast, we’re planning to document this journey and (fingers crossed) our first attempt at Ultra4, in a docuseries we’re calling “Pledge Drive,” which will run free and commercial-free on YouTube once completed. Wish us luck!!
